The Apple announcement at the California theater in San Jose has drawn mixed reactions from people but the general sentiment has been positive, specially with the official launch of the iPad Mini.

The event started with Tim Cook giving some statistics on the iPhone 5 release and iOS 6 launch. Standard part of any Apple event.
The first news bit is the coming of a new version of iBooks which now has continuous scolling reading option and iCloud integration. There's sharing features of passages on Facebook and Twitter.
Next to be announced was the new 13-inch Macbook Pro now with Retina display and weighing at only 3.3 pounds. No optical drive on this one though. Price is at $1,699 and starts shipping today.
Up next is the new Mac minis which is now available at 21.5 and 27-inch versions. Then comes the new iMac, which is incredibly thin at 5mm along the edges. New iMacs will start at $1,299. Shipping starts in November.
And then we have the 4th generation iPad, which now comes with the Lightning connector and A6X processor. Looks like this is the "new iPad" and the iPad 3 that was launched last March is now the "old" one.
Then the iPad Mini with 7.9-inch non-Retina screen. The iPad Mini price will start at $329. Pre orders start October 26. Wifi versions ship from November 2 while 4G versions roll out two weeks later.
In summary, there's an iBooks update, new Mac Minis with updated processors, a new 13-inch retina MBP, new really thin iMacs, a new iPad, and of course, the iPad Mini.
Definitely the product that will bite out a big chunk of the Amazon Kindle and Google Nexus 7 market is the newly launched iPad Mini.
But what exactly are its specifications and how does it compare to the regular iPad, aside from its size.
Below, we've summarized the most important specs of the iPad Mini.
For starters, it's slim and lightweight, weighing at 0.68 punds, that's about 50% lighter than the 10-inch iPad. The new iPad can easily be held with one hand which is 7.2 mm thick.
The inside specs is very similar to the iPad 2, which runs with the A5 dual-core chipset. The display is 1024 x 768 at 163 ppi - so no retina display there... something we think is reserved for the next iPad Mini.
Physically, it's exterior is the same as the iPhone 5, which skinny bezel, the 8-pin Lightning connector and will come in either black or white with anodized aluminum case - just like the latest iPhone.
It will have 802.11 a/b/g/n wi-fi, with Bluetooth 4.0 and optional 4G LTE connectivity, with 10 hours rated battery life.
Moreover, the new iPad Mini will come with a front-facing FaceTime camera at 720p resolution and a rear-facing camera with 1080p video or 5-megapixel photo capabilities.
Like all iPads, it will ship with a 3-axis gyro, accelerometer, compass and ambient light sensor - making it backward compatible to all apps in the market.
It will ship with iOS 6, the updated version of iBooks and Siri.
The prices for the iPad Mini starts at $329 for the 16GB wifi, while the 4G LTE capable version will be at $649 for the 64GB version. Others specs will be in between those two prices.

The U.S. East Coast is getting a beating right now as Hurricane Sandy churns out fierce wind gusts throughout the area and many are getting concerned of how this will affect them in the coming days.
To make matters more alarming, Hurricane Sandy is seen to join two other weather systems which could add to its power and possible affect around 50 million people in the East Coast.
At present, the superstorm is being felt in 19 states, namely, North and South Carolina, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.

PSEi Ends Flat As Country Prepares for Long Weekend
Stocks traded higher for most of the day as month-end window dressing helped keep the PSEi in the green. However, sell-offs of index names during the last few minutes of trading pushed the index into negative territory.
The PSEi ended the day flat, drifting down 2.16 points or -0.04% to close at 5,424.51. Sectoral indices ended mixed with property (+0.80%) and holding firms (+0.46%) managing to eke out gains while mining oil (-0.56%), financials (-0.43%), and industrials (-0.20%) ended lower.
Services (-0.04%), on the other hand, ended flat moving down less than a point. Top index gainers include MPI (+2.99%), FGEN (+2.53%), and EDC (+1.99%), while URC (-4.00%), MER (-2.08%), and GLO (-0.87%) were the day’s laggards. Market breadth was skewed positively with 87 advances versus 75 declines and 48 issues unchanged. Value turnover was at Php 6.35 billion.
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) reported that its net income as of September amounted to Php13.2 billion, with net interest and non-interest income combined surging by 17.6%. The unibank registered a 19.2% return-on-equity and 2.1% return-on-assets. Note that net interest income increased by 7.8% year-on-year, despite the prevailing low interest rate environment. The bank attributes this to the expansion of its asset base by Php50 billion, or +6.4%.

Anderson Cooper is neither sad nor happy when news broke out that his syndicated daytime talk show, "Anderson Live" won't be coming back for a third season.
According the Telepictures, a Warner Bros. division which produces the show, "We are extremely proud of Anderson and the show that he and the entire production team have produced."
"While we made significant changes to the format, set and produced it live in its second season, the series will not be coming back for a third season in a marketplace that has become increasingly difficult to break through."
Thus, the show is now just set to complete it's current second season run which ends in the summer of 2013 before finally going off air.
This news doesn't mean, however, that Cooper is losing his television charm. His news show, "Anderson Copper 360" still remains as the most watched evening show on CNN.

Some prefer toasted than roasted, but we think they're just the same. But you can choose to make them salty or sweet, chewy or crunchy. And below, we have a simple and easy to prepare roasted pumpkin seed recipe.
Your first step is to clean the pumpkin seeds, making sure that all the pulp are removed. You can rinse it with cold water afterwards and let dry, preferably overnight.
Next, you season them in a bowl by pouring olive oil, salt, pepper and other preferred seasoning. Some like putting sugar, garlic powder or sugar along with those.
Toss the seeds and the ingredients in the bowl until the pumpkin seeds are well-coated and put it in an oven, a microwave or a skillet, if you prefer it toasted.
If you're using an oven, roast the seeds at 300F until golden brown. For the microwave, toast the seeds at high temperature for 3 minutes, then stir and repeat the process until it becomes light brown.
The more traditional roasted pumpkin seed recipe requires a large skillet where you just toast the seeds and constantly stir until the skin turns golden brown.
Unemployment figures for the Eurozone hit a record high, clocking in 11.6 percent for September from a previous figure of 11.5 percent in August.

Twitter has announced that it will roll out in the coming months, a new feature to its mobile app which will allow photo uploaders to use image filters.
In the past couple of years, many have used Instagram to share photos across various social networks, including Twitter. The simple but effective way that Instagram enhances often poor quality mobile photos, have catapulted the company to fame.
With Twitter, one may no longer need to use Instagram, or other photo apps, because you can now apply filters within the app.
While this is not the core strength of the micro blogging site, many say that this direction could prove to be a positive step towards engaging more users on Twitter.
In fact, since most smartphones nowadays have high-resolution cameras already, there's now a new need for users to simply add effects and filters to the photos and not necessarily turn them into lomography which forgives minor blotches and blurs in the photo.
As of the moment, it's still unknown when exactly these Twitter photo filters will roll out and what would be the official name of this feature within the app.
Apple today has launched the first bug fix update to its latest mobile operating system, the iOS, and rolled out iOS 6.0.1.
This version is a free update which fixes several bugs, particularly one which produces errors when installing software updates over-the-air for the iPhone 5.
The solution includes a special "iOS updater" app which will be installed for the update, then removed automatically once everything is done.

New York City Marathon 2012 Cancelled on Wake of Hurricane Sandy
The annual New York City Marathon, scheduled for Sunday morning, has been cancelled due to criticisms that the event would affect the city's efforts in recovering from Frankenstorm Sandy.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg first wanted the to push through with the marathon, saying that it would be a good way to tell the world that the city is moving forward strong from the recent superstorm.
However, other elected officials said that there are still a lot of cleaning up and aid that needs to be done, and holding the marathon could only take away manpower and energy which could otherwise be used to focus on helping the hard-hit residents of the city.
"We would not want a cloud to hang over the race or its participants, and so we have decided to cancel it," Mr. Bloomberg finally announced during a press conference.
"We cannot allow a controversy over an athletic eventâ€"even one as meaningful as thisâ€"to distract attention away from all the critically important work that is being done to recover from the storm and get our city back on track."
Reactions to the news are mixed, many are obviously disappointed that the marathon had to be cancelled. Many participants have come to New York from different cities and countries just to be in the event.

Millions have flocked the cinemas to watch Skyfall and online reviews are generally positive for the latest James Bond film.
Many say that this is no longer the action flick that you've probably grown watching in the past decades of Bond movies.
According to movie critics, there's less tech and gadgets here, which has been a signature James Bond style, but more in-depth look at how a 007 agent thinks and feels.
However, the lack of gadgets doesn't mean there's less tech to see here. Although one thing we've noticed, there's no cheesy "Bond Girl" on this one, and very little CGI as well.
Which made Skyfall a great cinematic experience of raw action and sophisticated class.

LOS ANGELES- Adam Levine dan Christina Aguilera kerap bertengkar saat menjadi juri di ajang pencarian bakat The Voice. Namun, vokalis Maroon Five itu justru membela Christina dari kritikan mengenai bentuk tubuhnya yang dinilai terlalu gemuk.
Adam menganggap berbagai kritikan yang datang kepada Christina adalah bullying, dan mereka harus sadar akan hal tersebut.
"Itu tidak baik. Aku tak pernah menyukainya (bullying). Aku pikir itu sangat buruk dan aku sangat membela (Christina) ketika orang bicara seperti itu karena bukan urusan mereka. Satu hal yang menjadi budaya sekarang, terutama budaya selebriti yaitu orang kerap bicara hal kotor tentang orang lain, apakah itu Christina atau aku," ungkap Adam seperti dikutip dari Digitalspy, Senin (29/10/2012).
Dia juga menjelaskan bahwa pertengkarannya dalam ajang The Voice bukan hal yang nyata. Adam justru mengaku berteman baik dengan Christina.
"Kami tak pernah saling membenci. Kami tak pernah memiliki pertengkaran rahasia yang semua orang kira. Dia terlalu banyak dan itu membuatku kesal. Tapi tentu saja aku berada di belakangnya dan tentu saja aku membelanya," tutupnya.

JAKARTA - Wildan Delta atau yang akrab disapa Kiwil kini resmi bercerai dengan Meggy Wulandari. Meggy merasa bersyukur telah bercerai dari pelawak tersebut.
"Aku juga enggak tahu harus ngomong alhamdulillah atau enggak. Alhamdulillah intinya semuanya lancar enggak ada kesulitan," kata Meggy saat ditemui di Pengadilan Agama Cibinong, Bogor, Jawa Barat, Senin (29/10/2012).
Berdasarkan hasil keputusan saat ini Kiwil telah diberikan waktu selama dua minggu untuk menjawab keputusan hakim. Hal itu bisa dimanfaatkan Kiwil untuk memperbaiki rumah tangganya.
"Tadi kan hakim sudah memutuskan saya sudah bercerai, apabila mas kiwil mau banding akan diberi waktu dua minggu," ungkapnya.
Seperti diketahui pernikahan Kiwil dengan Meggy adalah pernikahan kedua Kiwil. Sebelumnya Kiwil menikahi Rohimah. Sebelum resmi bercerai, Kiwil dan Meggy juga sempat pisah ranjang. Meggy memutuskan bercerai karena merasa sikap Kiwil tidak adil. Kiwil jarang pulan g dan tidak pula memberi kabar. Dia juga tidak adil dalam memberi materi.

BOGOR- Sejak pertama sidang perceraian dengan istri keduanya, Meggy Wulandari, Kiwil tidak pernah juga muncul di ruang sidang. Bahkan, hingga vonis Kiwil tak pernah hadir. Namun, Meggy merasa senang.
"Saat ini aku berusaha untuk positif thinking, kalau mas Kiwil enggak datang mungkin itu yang terbaik. Kalau pun datang nanti malah adu argumen, nantinya malah enggak baik," kata Meggy saat ditemui di Pengadilan Agama Cibinong, Bogor, Jawa Barat, Senin (29/10/2012).
Sebelum sidang, Meggy sempat memberitahukan agenda sidang perceraian kepada kiwil. Namun, Kiwil tetap saja tidak hadir.
"Aku juga sebenarnya sudah BBM, aku sudah berteman lagi di BBM. Aku sudah BBM, doain yah semoga lancar, tapi enggak ada tanggapan apa-apa," ujarnya.

Bahkan, membuatnya tertekan hingga kesedihan dan kemuraman terpancar di wajahnya.  Oleh karena itu, demi menghindari hal ini terjadi, seseorang mesti terpuaskan kebutuhan seksualnya. “Segala yang membeban pikiran dan hatinya seakan sirna bila kebutuhan kasih sayangnya terpenuhi,†jelasnya.

MESKI usia mendekati 60 tahun, tidak ada yang berubah dari penampilan Adrie Subono. Pendiri Java Musikindo ini masih setia mengenakan busana kasual yang membuatnya lebih nyaman bergerak.  “Dari dulu hingga sekarang, saya senang pakai jins dipadukan dengan kaus oblong. Biar serasi, saya pakai sneaker,†tutur Adrie kepada Okezone via telefon, Minggu, 28 Oktober 2012.  Ingin tampil simpel ternyata menjadi alasan utama dari promotor konser musik Shah Rukh Khan ini. Sejak muda, Adrie memang bukan tipe pria yang suka bergonta-ganti model busana, sekalipun itu bisa dilakukannya.  “Untuk atasan, misal T-shirt, saya paling suka dengan warna hitam. Enggak ada sesuatu hal yang bikin saya suka itu, cuma rasanya bikin penampilan lebih elegan,†jelasnya.  Keponakan dari BJ Habibie ini memastikan, T-shirt yang dipakainya memiliki dua varian, ada yang bergambar dan polos. “Tapi, baju saya paling banyak yang tanpa gambar, kok,†tutupnya. JAKARTA- Sudah hampir setahun menikah tak membuat Rayi “RAN†berkeinginan memiliki anak. Dia masih menunda momongan dan memilih fokus kepada pekerjaan.
"Sudah hampir setahun. Kita berdua memang masih sangat aktif dengan kegiatan masing-masing, masih pingin fokus sama kegiatan kita dan saling support. Karena nanti Insya Allah kalau sudah dikaruniai anak, istri saya terutama ingin fokus ke anak. At least dua tahun pertumbuhan anak itu kan masa yang paling penting," ujar Rayi saat ditemui di Taman Langsat, Barito, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan, Minggu (28/10/2012).
Meski menunda momongan, Rayi mengaku hampir setiap bulan melakukan bulan madu. Dirinya sengaja melakukan liburan sebelum memiliki anak. Karena menurutnya akan sulit jika liburan membawa anak.
"Dalam masa-masa ini kita selalu nyempet-nyempetin tiap berapa bulan sekali liburan berdua. Karena kalau sudah punya anak pasti lebih repot apalagi tempatnya jauh. Terus kalau anaknya masih kecil diajak ke tempat yang bagus dan seru kasihan anaknya pasti enggak ingat juga," jelasnya.
Kapan? “Insya Allah sih sebelum 30, sekarang kan 25.

JAKARTA - Rayi "RAN" bersama sang istri, Ria Zhafarina Hadju membiasakan jalani hidup ramah lingkungan.  Saat mereka berdua menghadiri acara peduli terharap taman kota dengan tema Hidden Park di Taman Langsat, Barito, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta Selatan, tadi siang, mereka menuturkan salah satu cinta kepada lingkungan salah satunya mengumpulkan botol bekas.  “Misalnya botol plastik minuman habis kita minum kita nyiapin satu kantong besar, kita kumpulin dulu sampai banyak. Kan ada pemulung-pemulung yang mencari botol plastik untuk didaur ulang. Nah, kalau sudah penuh baru kita kasih ke pemulung yang mencari plastik-plastik itu," ungkap Rayi yang hadir untuk menyemarakan Hari Sumpah Pemuda, Minggu (28/10/2012).  Selain botol, keduanya juga selalu mengumpulkan karcis tol dan parkir.  "Terus misalnya kita lewat tol atau parkir, kan dapat kertas parkir tuh, kita enggak langsung buang, kita kumpulin dulu. Kalau sudah banyak kita balik belakangnya kita kasih penjepit trus dijadiin notes. Fungsinya kan sama," terangnya.   Menurut Rayi, apa yang dilakukan dirinya dan sang istri merupakan bentuk bagian untuk memajukan Indonesia.  "Ini jelas salah satu bentuk sumpah yang ingin kita buat untuk memajukan Indonesia," tandasnya.

JAKARTA - Pemain sinetron Dimas Andrean (27) menjadi korban penganiayaan di wilayah Tanjung Duren, Jakarta Barat, petang tadi. Â Kanitreskrim Polsek Tanjung Duren, AKP Budi Setyadi mengatakan, korban saat itu sedang melaju dengan mobil Grand Livina di Jln. Tanjung Duren Barat 1, Grogol Petamburan, Tanjung Duren, Jakarta Barat. Saat itu ada sebuah truk yang sedang diparkirkan oleh seseorang, sehingga menggangu jalan. Â "Karena posisi truk masing melintang di jalan, oleh pelaku, korban disuruh stop dulu karena sedang markirin truk. Pelaku bukan kernek truk melainkan warga sekitar yang membantu markir," ujarnya kepada wartawan, Minggu (28/10/2012). Â Pelaku diketahui bernama Jasinto (18) yang melakukan penganiayaan kepada Dimas beralasan tidak mau mengalah oleh truk yang sedang diparkirkannya. Â "Korban malah jalan terus mau nyalip truk, di karenakan kesel, pelaku matahin spion kanan mobil korban," tambahnya. Â Korban pun menepi kendaraannya, setelah mengetahui spion mobilnya dipatahkan oleh pelaku. "Selain mematahkan spion, pelaku juga beberapa kali memukul mobil korban sambil memaki," tutur Budi. Â Perang mulut pun tak terhindari, antara korban dan pelaku. Kesal karena korban tetap ngeyel, pelaku pun langsung melayangkan bogeman mentahnya ke korban. "Pelaku sempat memukul korban beberapa kali. Warga yang ada di lokasi memisahkan mereka," kata Budi lagi. Â Dimas langsung melaporkan peristiwa itu ke Polsek Tanjung Duren. "Pelaku sudah kami tangkap pada pukul 16.00. Dan bisa dikenakan pasal 351 dan 406 KUHP tentang penganiayaan dan pengerusakan barang," pungkasnya.

We're used to seeing Victoria Beckham looking perfectly polished and effortlessly stylish - she IS a successful fashion designer, after all. But something we're definitely NOT used to seeing is the ends of the Spice Girl's mouth turned upwards in what is known in the real world as a smile.
However, based on this photo evidence, that seems to be exactly what happened in LA yesterday. Ok, so she's not exactly grinning ear to ear and baring her pearly whites, but there's DEFINITELY a hint of a smile going on here. Which, considering her mouth's default position is 'power pout', is quite an achievement for old VB.
The rare happening took place at US Vogue's annual CFDA Fashion Fund party, held at LA's exclusive Château Marmont hotel (yep, the same hotel Lindsay Lohan was chucked out of earlier this year for failing to pay her $45,000+ bill ). Taking full advantage of the Californian sunshine, Vic wore an all-white outfit, made up of a sharp, lace-sleeved shirt and a mini skirt, and finished her look with a pair of nude peep-toe boots.
